Nose Pollution
A woman almost sent me to the hospital last night because of her overuse of perfume. I was walking down an aisle in Target, when I completely lost my breath! She must have poured half the bottle on her, and I swear I didn't respond so strongly when I was gassed in a Paris subway ten years ago. What is up with that?
I literally had to sprint away from the woman to escape suffocation. It was an obnoxious example of odor abuse. I feel like more and more people are abusing their fragrances every day. Now is this such a big deal? Yeah...Kinda!
I'm pretty rough and tumble, but happen to be allergic to perfume. Floral scents in particular. It causes me migraines and nausea. Very annoying, but not as scary as others may have it. My two year old son for example, has asthma. I am one hundred percent positive we would have had to call 911 for him last night if he were with me when we walked by Mrs. Stinky Pants. He would have really been in trouble!
I also remember attending a monthly women's business networking luncheon long ago. I loved the women and the speakers, but oh boy! That many women and all of their perfumes in one room created a really poisonous potion. So, what to do? Even though I'm fairly sensitive to perfume.....I don't think it should be banned or anything silly like that. I would just like to remind folks not to over do it. One spray is enough! A little dot on your wrists and neck are all one needs to give those getting very close an amorous odor.
Strangers probably shouldn't have to run away, hold their breath or cough in your presence. My experience last night truly concerned me about people like my son who simply couldn't handle the exposure. Asthmatics, people with bronchitis, emphysema and other ailments of the lungs should be considered. Don't have people quoting Dr. Seuss around you. "Stink! Stank! Stunk!"
