It sounds too good to be true -- spend some time in a body wrap on a workout machine and lose several inches nearly instantly. Body wraps are also touted as procedures that detoxify or rid the body of nasty chemicals. So do they really work? The Seattle Times answers that question. If you're looking for immediate results, then yes a body wrap may tighten your skin and help you squeeze into a dress or a bathing suit. But it's important to remember that the results aren't lasting. You haven't actually lost weight, only water. Further more, not everyone is comfortable with the safety surrounding body wraps for weight loss.
As far as detoxification, most experts are skeptical. The liver and the lungs do a pretty good job of ridding our body of chemicals as it is, they say. Body wraps may make your skin feel deliciously smooth, though. What about you? Have you ever had a body wrap? What did you think?
