Vitamin D vital for 'unborn babies,' says expert

Pregnant? Get your Vitamin D, says the U.S. Government this past week. Pregnant and breastfeeding women were strongly encouraged to supplement their Vitamin D intake in the darker winter months to ensure the babies inside them to not develop rickets or seizures.

The U.S. Department of Health is apparently seeing more cases of Vitamin D deficiency in young kids, with children from Asian, Afro-Caribbean and Middle Eastern backgrounds seeing higher risks to boot.

That makes sense -- the darker the skin, the less sunlight is absorbed and hence, Vitamin D production becomes an issue (solved by active supplementation in most cases).
