I spoke with Oprah Winfrey's health expert and best selling author, Dr. Mehmet Oz, the other day. I have to say, the man is not only brilliant....he tells a really funny story too. We were talking about his personal fitness habits when I asked him if he has ever had an issue with his weight. This is what he told me.
Dr. Oz: Yes, but only once! I was in the sixth grade at a new school and it was a point when I wasn't involved with either community or school sports. I went to the school cafeteria and found this sandwich called a "fluffernutter". Have you ever heard of that? It's a sandwich with peanut butter and marshmallow inside. I had never tried this thing before, but once I did I was like "Wow! I want another!"
So for quite a while, I ate these Fluffernutters for lunch. And then one of my teacher's stopped me and said "You're turning into a little butterball!" She didn't say it in a mean way, she just said it as an observation. I guess I knew what was doing it to me, so I stopped eating Fluffernutters. I naturally returned back to my regular 'kid weight' and have never had one of those sandwiches again.
**I love this story because I too, I have picked up these weird little food habits (muffin tops) and have physically paid the price for them. It took me a few experiences with my too tight jeans to dump the midday muffin top and get back to my right size. I think we've all gone through crazy food phases. What was yours?

This time of year?
Egg nog - and my local supermarket has about 4 or 5 different varieties that I'm determined to try - Pumpkin, Vanilla Spice, Sugar Cookie, Gingerbread to name a few.
I highly recommend the Gingerbread.
But it got bad last week when we ran out of milk and I had Cheerios with egg nog. I've since calmed down a bit. The jeans were getting a bit snug.
