Seven killer foods

We all know by now that there are just some foods you should stay away from. Trans fats, for instance. And high fructose corn syrup too. But those are in lots of things -- what specific foods should you stay away from?
eDiets recently put together a list of the foods you should always avoid:
- Cheeseburger and Fries. Fatty meat topped with fatty processed cheese, in between white bread with a side of fatty deep-fried starch. Yikes.
- Doughnuts. Deep-fried dough and sugar -- it's tasty, but not very nutritious.
- Fried Chicken, chicken fingers and chicken nuggets. Chicken is good for you, but not when it's processed, battered and deep fried.
- Packaged lunches. You know, those ones for kids. Convenient, but ... ick!
- Sugary cereal. Start your day off with a whole bunch of energy-draining sugar? No thanks.
- Processed Meats. You never know what goes into those meats -- and you don't want to.
- Canned soup. It's got wayyyyy to much sodium.

Hi Martha,
Go to www.corn.org/NSFC2006.pdf
Courtesy of the Corn Refiners Assoc., p29-30 lists all
the foods and products that contain HFCS. Some
surprises: soups, whole wheat bread, cough syrups.
Unfortunately, that doesn't help you shop.
StopHFCS.com lists foods that are HFCS-free. They
welcome additions and suggestions. Try European
import stores. Europe prohibits genetically modified foods
(GMO) which safely eliminates HFCS.
Good Luck

Most of this stuff is common knowledge by now. I think is not so much what you eat, but how much. Portion control is so out of whack now. We don't realize how big our meals have gotten. The kid's meals of today were regular size for adults just 30 years ago. Don't forget the drinks, which I believe is even worse than eating. We drink 3 or 4 sodas or sweet teas out of hugh glasses which can add up to 500 or more calories just from the drink. We talk about eating less but we need to encourage people to say no to refills, one glass is plenty.
