UNICEF urges more action on children's health

UNICEF, the children's agency formed within the United Nations, has said that "urgent action" is required to ensure the world's children have the needed health care and education within the next seven years.

Although progress has been made in child mortality rates -- they have fallen by 60 percent since 1960 -- there is still room for improvement.

One of the unheard problems from the perspective of many global citizens is the health of global children under five years of age. According to UNICEF, maternal mortality, HIV prevention and pneumonia are some of the main areas that need global improvement.
