Do you hang on to the bar on your treadmill if you walk? If you do, you're just setting yourself up for a less efficient workout and putting stress on your body as well. Instead, set the treadmill for a lower speed and walk naturally. As you get more proficient at treadmill walking, you can increase your pace. Think you have a good excuse for clutching the bar? Glee Magazine dispels them all. There really is no good reason, and you'll burn up to 20% more calories if you just learn to let go.
