Pittsburgh lauches program to curb childhood obesity

Childhood obesity, after years of being shoved under the table by many school leaders, parents and authorities, is finally seeing some attention as some kids become ever-fatter.

In Pittsburgh, the 'We Can!' project (courtesy of the National Institutes of Health) is launching to raise awareness and action among childhood obesity cases. Seven other cities planned on similar launches as well.

It's good to see the NIH getting down and dirty and actually helping large cities implement such a far-reaching program, although this is just the start. Organizing fitness classes and finding healthier food options are on the table, among other things.
