How Many Calories... in a slice of pumpkin pie?
Categories: How Many Calories?
The holidays are almost here! That means it's officially pumpkin pie season. It's strange, I get a craving for the taste of homemade pumpkin pie from November through January, and the rest of the year it sounds completely unappetizing to me. The pumpkin is healthy for you, but then we add all those ingredients that make it creamy and sweet, and a homemade crust . Is it still a healthy dessert? The correct answer is about 320 calories. One slice also packs about 17 grams of fat (ouch!) That's even before you add any whipped cream. This is a dessert that's best enjoyed only a few times a year.

For those watching the waistline, removing the BOTTOM CRUST from a piece of pumpkin pie reduces the calorie count by about 100.

It's a well-known fact that calories do not count on Thanksgiving!! Load up on that pumpkin and sweet potato pie on thurs and just be good the other 351 days of the year (okay maybe 350 or 349 for x-mas and your birthday...maybe easter too...)

I'll take mine with lots of whipped cream, maybe even some ice-cream. At almost 60 I'm over 6'2" and under 175 pounds.

Pumpkin pie is not the worst of EVIL for the american diet.
First of all it is in season only once a year and just having a few potoatoe chips is far worse than a piece of pie for the Holidays.
Stop the phobia and lay of the other crap all year round if you want to stay out of the FATHOUSE.

after 5lbs of turkey, and a half gallon of mashed potatos, what's a little piece of pie gonna hurt??

OK, ok
Pumpkin pie is better made with evaporated SKIM milk, the seasonings stand out nicely. If you must, make the filling in custard cups to avoid the crust.
Think of it this way, it is loaded with vitamins and fiber, so better for you than many holiday desserts!

We stopped making pumpkin pie and started buying this every year for Thanksgiving. It has more fat ;( but 2/3rds less calories. Happy Thanksgiving!!
