Consumer group names 10 worst toys for kids
Categories: Nutrition & Supplements
U.S. toy safety group World Against Toys Causing Harm has released their annual "worst toys" list. The group keeps an eye out for toys that could be harmful to kids, then highlights them on their list for concerned parents. Toys on the list include those that have tested positive for lead paint, magnet toys that could be swallowed, and toys that have potential for injury.Check out the list and tell us if you agree with WATCH. While I don't think that kids should be playing with lead-paint coated toys, I wonder if WATCH is taking it too far when they include things like the Hip Hoppa. Toys that encourage physical activity always have the potential for injury, but parents can prevent trouble by following safety precautions. Then again, I haven't seen the toy in action, so I'm not sure. What do you think?

Most of this is all just hype and overreaction. When I was a kid we had "rigid plastic" swords and once we hit ourselves and found out they hurt we weren't stupid enough to do it again. We also had our parents watching us and spending time with us -- sadly all these "advocate"s for consumer right are trying to make up for what parents aren't doing: supervising their children.

its ultimately up to the parents to figure out what toys are appropriate for their children. Just because the toys come with an age range, doesnt mean that its safe for all kids. Kids mature at different levels. Its nice to see there is a list of toys, but like the rest of us, we didnt die from playing with some of the best toys out there! Parents, use your discretion!!! keep your children safe - dont depend on the WATCH groups or the manufacters! be safe!
