Snack attack? Make healthy choices

Posted on Nov 13th 2007 3:41PM by Katherine Steinberg

Most people say the fastest way to derail a diet is to snack, but in my opinion not so. Without a little something to nibble on around 3 or 4pm, I find I eat twice what I would normally at dinner -- going far beyond the calories a snack would have cost me.

So I say give in to what your body needs. By eating the right kinds of snacks you won't make poor decisions, like getting the extra hungry man portion at dinner, or devouring the whole bread basket as soon as you sit down at a restaurant (guilty!).

Reach for a piece of reduced-fat cheese, or anything packed with protein to fill you up. Or, if you are really craving something salty, try one of these 100-calorie salty snacks. Feed the beast well, and before you get desperate, and watch your waistline whittle away.

What are some of your favorite snacks?
