Daily Fit Tip: Make a Thanksgiving Day hike part of your tradition

The only physical activity in many homes on Thanksgiving Day is the post-meal race to see who is going to claim the couch. Want to have a Thanksgiving where the only one stuffed is the turkey? Make a few changes to your holiday traditions. For instance, adding in an after-dinner hike is a great way to aid digestion, burn off those excess calories, and create memories that will be cherished for years.
Before setting off on your hike, consider your participants. You're likely to have hikers from three or more generations, so choose a path that's safe for your least fit member -- both in distance and terrain. Creative families can set up a treasure hunt or geocaching course ahead of time to add even more fun to the day. An after dinner hike will leave everyone energetic and lively for a full day of family fun.
