Chicago ranked most caffeinated city in U.S.
Thanks in large part to their high chocolate and cola consumption (in addition to drinking quite a bit a coffee),
Chicago was ranked the most caffeinated city in the U.S. according to a poll conducted by Prince Market Research.
Other cities to appear on the list include:
5- Tampa
4 - Miami
3 - Phoenix
2 - Atlanta
The least caffeineted cities were:
5 - San Francisco
4 - Philadelphia
3 - New York
2 - Detroit
1 - Baltimore
The study looked at consumption of tea, coffee, energy drinks, chocolate, soda, and caffeine pills in 20 major cities in the U.S. by interviewing 2,000 people.

I agree with thejokman, I definitely thought Seattle would be number one or at least in the top 5.

Having lived in both Boston and Los Angeles I'm surprised, too. I expected Boston in the top five highest caffeine and L.A. in the lowest. There may be a lot of Starbucks and Coffee Beans but most orders I heard were for decaf (with SOY milk-ugh).

I'm surprized New Orleans isn't on the list either. I was born and raised in Seattle and that place is pretty caffienated, but New Orleans ??? It's getting up there too.
Gotta go. Sitting in front of Starbucks and need a cup of coffee :) :)

It's also a pretty safe bet that Chicago drinks the most beer.

i wouldn't believe the exact authenticity of these results... they only interviewed 2000 people in the entire U.S!

Wow, I was totally surprised at these results with Chicago topping the list. I can't imagine that we drink more caffeinated products than (say) Seattle or Portland. These study results have to have been skewed somehow.

San francisco is NOT one of the least caffeinated cities in the world! They have some of the strongest coffees around. Maybe they rank lower because they have two or three VERY strong cups instead of just one. When I lived there I couldn't stand to drink cofee in restaurants. It was like pure caffeine!

Where is Seattle? A coffee shop on every corner. Home to Starbucks.

I'm surprised L.A. didn't make the list anywhere. No one around here could survive without their daily espresso, cappuccino, or coffee. And the kids consume those energy drinks like they're water.

Boston was my first thought. It seems everywhere you look there is a Dunkin Donuts Coffee Joint and people walk around holding one of their cups.

I wondered if they only interviewed 2000 people in the cities that made the list. Coffee, cola, chocolate, and iced tea are the top drinks in Houston, so you would think they would get in too. Who woulda thought - Atlanta???

What do they drink in the least caffeinated cities?
I'm a proud Chicagoan. May I recommend coffee ice cream. Breyer's is my favorite.
Does COFFEE cake count? I suppose not. There's actually no coffee in the recipe.

I bet this survey is not very accurate at all. And I was very surprised to see New York as one of the least caffeinated cities.
