What's for dinner? You might want to add capers to the menu

Trying to decide what to make for dinner? If it includes a meat dish, you might want to consider a supermarket run for capers. A recent study found that when capers are added to a meat-based meal, their anti-oxidants offset the oxidation that takes place when a person eats meat. This oxidation causes changes to a person's DNA, which has been linked to cancer. In lab studies, when capers were mixed with a meat meal, their anti-oxidants were able to slow that oxidation process. Though this benefit has only been seen in a lab setting, researchers believe that capers may make meat eater's meals healthier.
