Addicted to sugar? Try these tips
Posted on Oct 24th 2007 5:00PM by Bethany SandersWhen I clicked over to read an article from Ediets on stomping the sugar habit, I expected to see some of the more classic sugar-busting tips like: eat several small meals a day, add protein at every meal, and try cinnamon to stabilize blood sugar. Instead, what I found was a new take on beating that sugar habit for those who are truly emotionally addicted to the sweet stuff. These 10 tips are definitely unique, but you know what? I think they just might help! Some of my favorites include:
- Visualize yourself at a starting gate, getting ready to start a race. The finish line is freedom from sugar addiction.
- Create your own sugar-free mantra, "I only eat healthy foods," for example. Repeat it up to 60 times a day, then write it 20 times in a notebook.
- Read books by people who have overcome major hurdles.
- Create a mental movie where you're the lead and your role is rejecting sugar and eating only healthy foods. (If you love action movies, you could probably turn sugar into some sort of invading alien and shoot it down with your laser beams!)
- Applaud yourself every step of the way.
