Is the Cookie Monster going on a diet?

The Cookie Monster without Cookies? Say it ain't so -- the two go hand in hand. But alas, it's true. That lovable puppet is cutting down on his favourite food in an effort to help curb the obesity epidemic in children. His new slogan will be "A Cookie is a Sometimes Food." He'll also be broadening his eating habits to include fruits and vegetables. He'll also be giving healthy tips each show.

But reps from Sesame Street are quick to point out that the Cookie Monster is not going on a diet, and would never cut sugar out all together. He's merely cutting down and given the circumstances, I think that's a good idea. What do you think?

Also, as an aside, did you know that before he found cookies, the Cookie Monster's name was Sid? I didn't!
