Asthma: Kids do better when physically fit
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Nutrition & Supplements
As an asthmatic, I understand how asthma can limit your desire to exercise. But exercise is important for everyone, including those with asthma. In fact, a recent study found that when asthmatic children who were adequately treated for their disease took up moderate to rigorous physical exercise twice a week, they were able to breathe easier and reduce the amount of controller medication they were taking. Health experts say that this study reinforces the idea that children with asthma need to get proper treatment and then keep up with regular physical activity to keep their disease under control. And though adults weren't involved in the study, I think that's probably good advice for us too. (As always, don't make any changes to your child's asthma treatment program without first talking to his or her doctor.)
