Canadian man runs 800 miles to fight diabetes

Posted on Sep 10th 2007 8:30AM by Bethany Sanders
Cole Choken watched his grandfather suffer from diabetes and decided that the disease wouldn't be a part of his future, not if he had any say in it anyway. So the 300+ pound 21-year-old began eating right and exercising, losing 100 pounds. But he didn't stop there, he recently completed an 800-mile run across a section of Canada to raise money for the Canadian Diabetes Association. And you know what? He says he's ready to do it again. Choken said:

"I never thought I could do it. But you put your mind to it, you can do anything you want."

So if you're looking for some motivation this Monday morning, look no farther than our neighbor to the north. You can do anything you put your mind to -- Choken started with a jog that was less than a few blocks long -- you just have to get up and do it.
