Here we go again -- almost a year after a previous bagged spinach recall, a possible salmonella outbreak has caused a Southern California company to recall bagged spinach. The company, Metz Fresh, indicated that there was no current illness related to possibly tainted spinach, but the company is taking no chances. It was not clear on how salmonella was found in its bagged spinach products, but I am sure we'll find out.
Bagged spinach from Metz Fresh was distributed throughout the 48 states in both the retail and food service venues, and covers over 8,000 cases of spinach. The good news is that 90% of the recalled products is under hold and was inaccessible to consumers.
