Study says to keep using statins after stroke happens

In a new study that seems more like an advertisement than fact (to me, anyway), the risk of death or complete dependency 90 days after a stroke happens was enhanced if statin drugs were not kept on a patient's drug menu.

Since statin drugs are relatively new in terms of actual pharmaceutical products, the results of this study seem to suggest that statin drugs, generally used to lower 'bad' cholesterol, are now helpful in treating stroke victims.

Perhaps statin drugs do in fact help the brain continue to receive oxygen in the event of a stroke, but without seeing the actual results of several clinical studies that suggested (but apparently did not prove) this result, I remain skeptical.
