Beat brain cancer with garlic
Categories: Natural Products, Alternative & Green Health, Nutrition & Supplements
It seems like every day scientists are discovering new ways to fight against cancer. While many of these treatments come in the form of drugs, there's also a growing number of foods that have been proven to be effective against the disease.
The latest research has found that people can beat brain cancer -- even destroy potentially deadly tumors -- simply by eating garlic. In the study, scientists learned that three garlic compounds -- DAS, DADS, and DATS -- kill brain cancer cells by creating chemical reactions that basically gorge the cells to death.
There's further research that needs to be conducted to fully understand this discovery, but in the meantime, if you're interested in using garlic for its cancer-fighting qualities, remember that you need to peel garlic and let it sit for 15 minutes prior to cooking with it. In that time, the enzyme that produces the anti-cancer compound will be released.
Also, it's important not to go overboard. Too much garlic can cause diarrhea, and even internal bleeding. So, as always, it's best to check with your doctor before self-medicating.

I have been using alternative meds for 16 years now. I am 43 years old, and I am in perfect health. I believe that it is because I use PREVENTION as my means of health care. I am wondering, since I do NOT use or MISUSE my health insurance...doesn't it seem that I should get some credit for that. I would like to see some action on Capital hill for this one. Give us some relief on our taxes for taking alternative medicines.

How ridiculous. I hate when people are given false hope in the form of curing cancer.....Lenora is in "perfect health" at age 43 because she is taking care of herself and she is LUCKY. My son got brain cancer at age 5, and his body was also in "perfect health."

How ridiculous. Lenora is healthy because she is lucky, not just because she "eats perfectly." My son got brain cancer age 5 and he ate "perfectly."

Garlic is a good source of selenium - good protection for all types of cancer - a good book by Dr. Passwater "Selenium As Food & Medicine" offers some convincing data.

My husband was a huge fan of garlic yet he died of a brain tumor. He was only 46 and never was sick. So keep taking the garlic, maybe it may help someone else.

No harm done in my eyes--I don't currently have brain cancer, don't know if it's in my future, and I happen to like garlic, so I cook with it fairly frequently. I won't increase my garlic intake, but I won't decrease it either.

I am glad that Lenora is in "perfect health" and sorry to tell that despite that, she is dying just like the rest of us!

As Andi stated, Lenora is healthy because she is lucky, and maybe because she lives a healthy lifestyle. She, and the rest of us can do things like not smoke, not eat alot of fatty foods, etc. to prevent
"preventable" conditions such as lung cancer or heart disease that are caused by these activities. I, too live a healthy lifestyle, exercise regularly, seldom eat meat, or fatty foods, don't smoke, drink rarely, neither parent has a history of cancer, and still I got brain cancer, cause as the doctor said "shit happens".

I'm 44 and two months ago was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Several of my friends have laughed with me over the fact that I'm so fit and that I'm such a health-food addict, and ME, of all people! Smoking is one of the biggest risk factors for this type of cancer -- and I've never smoked a single cigarette. As I told them, it doesn't shake my belief in the importance of eating well and staying in shape -- because my cancer may well have been far more aggressive, invasive, and advanced had I not given myself every advantage to fight it. As for the garlic ... at least one recent clinical study has shown that garlic is EQUAL to the eight-week immunotherapy/anti-carcinogenic treatment I completed (as follow up to surgery) in combatting the return of bladder cancer. Eat your garlic! Best of health to you all.

Garlic is great. But remember to look both ways when crossing the street. You have to die of something, you know, and as the first poster to this thread may find, arrogance and self deception is a killer every bit as much as a bullet or a blade.

Grump, you're correct ... SOMETHING will eventually get us. My grandmother (who died at 101) used to say, "Wouldn't it be a shame to die of nothing?" That attitude probably contributed to her longevity ... and thus dying of "nothing" at that advanced old age. What the heck ... I figure my cancer is probably just going to cut into my "Depends" years, anyway.

In 2 weeks, researchers are going to find out that mass amounts of garlic are going to cause some far fetched blood disorder!! Get real people. My dear sister died last year of brain cancer, a glioblastoma. Nothing she could do about it. She didn't smoke or drink. She ate well. Don't fill families and their sick siblings with false hopes. We all die someday, some just sooner that others!

There is no magic cure for anything!!! Eat well and enjoy tasty treats in moderation. Exercise and take a few lazy naps. Love yourself and your family. Choose your friends wisely. Exercise your brain and your heart. Banish anger and bitterness from your life and choose to laugh and smile instead.
With medical scientists changing their collective minds on a regular basis regarding which foods should be avoided and which possess magical cure-all powers, maybe we should just go back to using common sense when it comes to eating, getting a little exercise, and enjoying life in the meantime.

How much garlic should you eat? Will it cause garlic breath? There is probably a cure for cancer allready, but too much money is being made on chemo-therapy and other old fasioned treatments to let the world know about the cure.

Andi, as a NICU/PICU nurse I empathize with your loss. You are so right, often it's just plain luck that keeps some people healthy and this "blame the victim" mentality by some posters is so hurtful to people who have no control over their genes or the whims of fate. Yes, of course it's smart to eat real whole natural foods, but not everyone can afford these nor are they even available in some areas...and even those who think themselves "more worthy" of good health than others are in for a real dose of reality at some point in their lives, at which time they will remember their harsh words now.

ps... Michele, now right you are! MANY diseases and syndromes people suffer and die from HAVE cures, but the pharmaceutical companies spend HUGE amounts of money to keep them under wraps or to discredit them...or worse. They are the strongest lobby in the United States and have incredible international influence. Don't believe every "natural cure" huckster out there, but many natural treatments, preventatives and even cures do exist in nature.

The Diseases we are predisposed to is governed by our Inherited traits from our ancestors.
What our body needs is governed by our body type, hair and eye color and things like that and the genetic profile we inherited from our parents, grandparents and on down the line so look to our ancestors to determine whose traits we inherited.
Brown Hair is Niacin and Black Hair is Thiamine and Folic Acid. Red Hair is made up of Thiamine and Folic Acid.
And Blondes decend from parents with different hair colors and we need to see who we inherited the most traits from.
I learned this from the same source in the Spirit World that worked through Psychic Edgar Cayce who gave the World much in the way of Health and Cures and he gave me this information more than 20 years ago.

Andi- I am so sorry about your son. My mom's husband currently has pancreatic cancer, stage IVB, which as everyone knows, is basically terminal.
He never smoked in his life.. always ate the right foods... exercized... rarely drank...I really think it's luck of the DRAW, who "gets" what.
Health nuts make me sick, no pun intended.
I believe it's smart to eat healthily and take advantage of herbs and vitamins etc... but the level some of these a-holes take it is just ridiculous!
SOME THINGS (like cancer) have a mind of their OWN regardless of how PERFECT we "think" we are, or can be.
Some things are just in the cards.
This is why we're supposed to LIVE fully while we are actually here...and appreciate what we have right now.

Oatmeal is rich in Selenium.
My Guide gave me this information by Singing to me one day, "Oatmeal with Selenium"
I now fortify my oatmeal with Wheat Germ, Bran and Whole Wheat Hot type cereal.
I buy a 42 ounce box and to that I add a cup of the Above.
When I use flour in my Bread Baking I take three cups of that Mixture and blend it to make it like flour and use it to fortify 5 pounds of Unbleached Flour to make wonderful more nutritious bread.
I have found that these fortified breads with the right kinds of vitamins and minerals for my Particular hair type can turn my grey hair brown again and anyone knowing these things can study the things in Particular Grains and Develop a Blend for their own Particular Hair Type and perhaps do a bread for their own personal family and we will all be healthier and use less Hair Dye.
