I think one of the best inventions of all time (except the wheel, maybe) is indoor plumbing. It allowed our standards of cleanliness and hygiene to improve tremendously and had an enormous impact on the health of our society. But how much do you really know about personal hygiene? Did you know that toothbrushing didn't become routine in this country until it was enforced for soldiers in WWII? That NASA recently spent $23.4 million dollars designing a toilet that would work in zero-gravity space?
