For those that like to mow their own yards, did you know that you can burn up more calories doing that activity than treadmilling and lifting weights? Well, that's what I've heard from quite a few people, and if my sweat during that activity is any indication, they are right.The half hour or so it takes to mow produces a pretty decent heart rate plus plenty of physical activity, and my guess is that I can take a day off from inside exercise when it's yard mowing day. Do you do the same?
Sometimes, substituting everyday (but rigorous) physical activities is a good way to get variety in your exercise without feeling guilty. That is, if you recognize it. Indication #1: sweat!
