Fit Links: Choosing the right running shoes
As fabulous as we at That's Fit think this blog is, the truth is there are hundreds of wonderful blogs on healthy living to be seen all over the blogosphere. So in this feature, Fit Links, we'll introduce you to some that have caught our eye.For serious runners, choosing the right running shoe can make the difference between success, failure, and permanent injury. But the best choice isn't always obvious. What's comfortable in the store may not be comfortable after a twenty mile run, and what looks pretty on your foot might not be comfortable at all.
This week I'm passing along some fitness blogs that offer advice on choosing the right running shoe:
FitFAQ.com, Not Your Average Fitness Blog, and the final blog, Trying Fitness I'm throwing in mostly because I like their tag line. Trying Fitness: Because you've tried everything else.

Find a local running store and pay them a visit. Running shoes come in 4 types cushion, neutral, stability, and motion control. A store that specializes in running shoes can help you choose the type that is right for your gait.
The wrong shoe for the wrong gait is a recipe for injury. Most people immediately gravitate toward the most cushioned shoe available because they think it will lessen the impact of running. The best cushioning available is the natural pronation of your foot. Getting the proper shoe will correct any imbalance and allow to run injury-free.

Road Runner Sports sells a wide variety of shoes, and even goes so far as to delineate between shoes designed for small/medium/large frames, flat feet/low/medium/high arches, etc.
They aren't as good at selling larger sized shorts and singlets, but their shoe choices are phenomenal.

I always consult New Balance North Shore for my running shoes when I am in the Chicago area, and when I am not, their website http://www.nbnorthshore.com easily categorizes the running shoe types for me and ships my order fast. I can always find a helpful person there by phone for any questions I have.
