New York's trying to discourage them and health experts say they may be no good for us, but bottled water sales are showing no signs of slipping. Despite the fact that those bottles of water may look pure and refreshing, they water inside is usually no different than the water that comes from your tap. At least one company is fessing up to that fact in the face of rising criticism from environmental groups, and bottles of Aquafina will now carry a label that explains that they're filled from a public water source (tap water). In addition, the company will also be publishing water quality information on their website.

If you're trying to break your plastic water bottle habit, but want to keep your water handy, consider replacing those cases and cases of plastic with one reusable version. Stainless steel versions are hardy, non-leeching, and keep won't end up in a landfill after one use. Best of all, you can fill them up at your tap for mere pennies a year, compared to the $1500 you could spend on bottled water in the same amount of time.
