How to paint your office smoking area
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss
Sick of dealing with the haze from your office's smoking area? Wish the colleagues you've grown to care about would stop killing themselves with their nicotine addiction? Here's a decorating idea that'd serve as a not-so-subtle hint about the long-term health effects of cigarettes.
Of course, I'm sure this would also lead to resentment and bickering between smokers and non-smokers at your company, so maybe it's not the best idea in the world.
It is, however, very clever, and would certainly get the point across.

As much As I am all for people doing what they want to do...smokers need to realize it isn't "just about them" and what they do. If there could be a place where smokers could smoke and it only affects them, stays within their space and area -- I am all for it. But until that time we all must peacefully and healthily co-exist and second hand smoke as well as regular smoke kills or causes cancers, asthma, etc. I wouldn't go as far as this painting though..but I would come up with a solution to assist both parties.

I don't think smokers are worth the trouble or money. Being a former smoker, nothing anyone said to me would have worked or things painted above my head, It is something you need to figure out on your own.

I can understand companies making a special area for smokers, and I agree. But as an ex-smoker I can assure you that EVERY smoker already knows the dangers of smoking, and hateful comments from non-smokers only encourage them to smoke more, in defense of their decision about their own health.

Thats right lets cry about smokers. But its ok to sit in traffic and suck up all the exost spewing out of the tailpipes. That you suck in your lungs and you body cant absorb that couses lung cancer or coal burning power plants that do the same. God forbid you have to walk to your grave or sit in the dark. The truth is most of your health problems is not smokers. Its all the other sh**t you suck in.

as a nurse i have seen a lot of smokers and non-smokers die. we have preservatives in food, chemicals in our drinking water, chemicals in cosmetics and health products, animal and plant products are raised with chemicals of some sort. it is not just second hand smoke, it is all of the above. and lets not forget genetics play a role in health. have seperate areas for smokers and non-smokers and everyone gets their choice.

Please by all means find us an area that is not affected by you people who smoke. I can tell you as an EX smoker, it is almost impossible to breather when someone is smoking around me. Yes this is a free country, however you do not have the right to kill me, with your nicotine and carcinogens. It is not an excuse, as I said I use to smoke, it does hurt, it hurts real bad.

Wow- does no one in these comments know how to spell? For example, it's "exhaust" not "exost". And not "seams" but "seems". We have bigger problems than worrying about smokers- how about literacy for one?

Frank...you are a moron. Go travel with your stupid rock band and smoke all you want. If you want to kill yourself by smoking and PAY insane prices to buy the product that is killing you for sure...go right ahead, idiot. Just have the decency to keep the cancerous smoke to yourself. Smoking is so uncool---people look like total idiots when they smoke these days. If you know for sure that it will kill you, WHY THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IT???? There are drugs that can help you quit! Stop being such a baby about hotels that don't want smoking in them...unless you OWN the damn hotel, you can't make the rules! lol

I am a smoker who lost her husband to the disease of alcoholism. Now you tell me....how many people have wiped out a family of 4 while driving and smoking a cigarette???? It's okay to serve someone a fifth of whisky at a bar but it's not okay to smoke a cigarette??? This is ridiculous! It's okay to show commercials of alcohol and tell people to "drink responsibly" yet the showing of cigarettes is banned....I am completely confused by this. I would rather have my husband alive and sober and smoking 2 packs a day then to have lost him to alcohol.
You tell me which is the lessor of two evils.

I don't care how much I'm intruding on the rights of smokers, their habit is not only blown in my face on the street or outside of store entrances where they congregate, but it's continued to be passed on to generation after generation. For how long do we have to say "it's their right"? We know the dangers, we know the healthcare costs we all must pay for those among us who choose to smoke. While telling one group it's all right, it's simply a small, acceptable vice in the eyes of youth who pick it up, year after year. Does no one realize that permiting ourselves this extremely addictive vice is condemning a segment of the youth to fall victim to its appeal as a social drug? Stop defending this expensive habit, it really isn't just about you.

What's most interesting about the postings on this item is the spelling, or more accurately, the lack of spelling. Somebody might want to analyze the spelling of all these posts to see if smokers or non-smokers are the worst. My gut tells me it would be the smokers......brain damage due to lack of oxygen.

I'm sick of smokers yelling about "my rights". How about MY RIGHT not to inhale your cancer causing smoke. Take a look at this site if you want to see the ingredients in cigarette smoke and how many of them cause cancer. When sucking in the cancer causing smoke from a cigarette to your lungs and exhaling it for others to breathe becomes more important to you than life I have to question your sanity.

Wow, Frank is just a tad hostile. The reason why smokers are banned to specific areas or not allowed to smoke at all in public places is because non-smokers don't want to be subjected to your disgusting habit. I am not just a non-smoker, I am highly allergic to smoke and asthmatic. You have every right to pollute your own air, but you have no right to pollute mine! Just because smoking is legal doesn't mean it's a good idea. You look ridiculous with a cigarette hanging out of your mouth like some weird appendage, smoking ages your skin and makes your voice sound kind of scary, nicotine stains your finger tips, smoke smells just awful, let us not forget that lovely smokers hacking you go through every morning and when you laugh and smoking cigarettes are very likely to kill you one day. Hmmm ... sign me up.

and you are a moron too Robin, b/c everything we do these days kills us in one way or another. as someone mentioned earlier, you've got exaust, chemicals, preservatives, etc. and what about all the fast food you eat? smokers just want to smoke in peace. very few of them "blow" it in others faces and we don't pressure non-smokers to smoke. and we aren't bashing you for all your bad habits. I live in ohio, and we now have a smoking ban. smokers are banned from all public buildings including "true" bars and can't smoke within 50 feet of any main doors, isn't that enough for you people?

Let's put pictures of fat people in our offices as OBESITY is the #1 cause of most deaths. Face it, if smoking was so bad.......there would be more hospitals than McDonald's in the US. Also, don't forget........stay off the freeways. You might be involved in a second-hand fatal crash.
