Fit Factor: The Films that inspire us to get moving

Rigel did a post a while back on the the 300 Workout -- a workout regime that's based on the popular movie. It got me thinking -- we're always trying to steal celebrity workout secrets, so why isn't there more talk of using movies for inspiration to get active? I know that when I see a movie with a particularly ripped female lead who is doing a lot of ass-kicking (literally or figuratively) it inspires me to get my butt to the gym and start toning up.

So this week, I'm compiling a list of inspirational movie characters who I've found inspiration from workout-wise. Here it is:
  • Forrest Gump: Remember that part of the movie where Forrest just runs .... and runs, and runs, and runs. He just takes off and runs as far as his feet will take him, which evidently is very far. And when he's tired of running, he stops. Even though I've never been a runner, I love that idea -- of running to escape, or even just for the love of running. If running's your thing, and Forrest is your hero, do it for a good cause by signing up for a marathon.
  • Dirty Dancing: Ahh Dirty Dancing. What a classic. Don't you wish you could dance like that, or at least have that much determination to practice non-stop? Of course, having a good-looking partner who you have a major crush on helps with the motivation ...
  • Striptease: Let's get one thing straight. I do not advocate exotic dancing as a career, but I can't help it if I am a little inspired by Demi Moore's character -- not because she finds a shady way to make money, but because she is powerful and sexy, and she's not afraid to flaunt that. Anyway, the point is you can take an exotic dancing class, and it's a great way to build self-confidence and get some activity. And you don't need to flaunt it anywhere but your own home.
  • GI Jane: Again, Demi Moore is again the star of this flick, although she doesn't look as feminine as she does in the rest of her films. Did this movie inspire you to take a bootcamp class? It sure did over here. 'Nuff said.
  • Million Dollar Baby: Hilary Swank totally kicks ass in this movie, and though it made me wary of competitive boxing, I still always thing of it when I am in my cardio kickboxing class, and thinking of the main character battling it out with a punching bag inspires me to put a little more power into my punches.
  • Charlie's Angel: Yeah, it was kind of cheesy, but totally fun. Watching the Angels made me want to be able to beat up big burly men too. With the help of my cute friends, of course.
What other movies inspired you to get buff?
