What's so great about a juicer?
Categories: Reviews & Products
Every now and then, when I can't sleep, I come across Jack Lalanne and his over-enthusiastic infomercial touting his 'fabulous' juicer, which he in part credits to his longevity. Due to my practical nature, I never buy anything I see on an infomercial (except for the first season of Bewitched!)
But sometimes I think: there are worse things I could spend $100 than a juicer. I'm a big smoothie drinker and sometimes the blender doesn't cut it. Plus, it's a great way to get a big, healthy serving of veggies when I don't particularly feel like scarfing down a big salad. Should I cave and buy a juicer? What do you think?

I watched the infomercial on your behalf. It would seem to me that it is healthier still to eat fresh fruits and vegetables rather than juice them. The juicer extracts the pulp which is the wonderful fiber of the foods. You want more fruits and veggies make a spaghetti sauce with carrots and zucchini pulverized into the tomato puree, eat salsa and a low calorie chip.
Skip the juicer. Think how bulky it is and taking it in and out of storage. How often would you do that?

Actually, juicing is one of the healthiest things you can do. You can get the nutrition of an entire bag of carrots in one glass of juice. I own one, my mother owns one and several other family members and we all love them. Juicing is a great way to get all of your vitamins plus it really helps with weight loss. If you need extra fiber, you can take a supplement. However, I haven't found that I lack the fiber. This is just bulk. The vitamins are in the juice. Good luck!

I have a juice man jr and i love it. The juice is great and very filling. One glass in the morning every day, not to mention the weight you will lose, and the energy you will gain. You get plenty of fiber, most fruits and vegetables are juiced whole with the skin and rhind (seeds and all). The juicer separates the good from the bad. The juice does not taste like frozen juices but you will be craving it in no time. my favorite juices are watermelon, cantalope, and carrot apple. Yeah it's a pain to clean but it's all worth it.

My goodness,,,, you have to buy a bushel of veggies to get a glass of drink, then toss out half the nutrients and fiber? What is the point? It would take half an hour to just get out the veggies,,then clean all the mess up.
Just give me a V8, and let me eat the orange or banana later!

Man-o.... I have had a juicer for a while, and just brought it back into use with all the healthy reading from this site.... and I haven't stopped. I bought one for my girlfriend, and upgraded mine to the same. Gave my friend my old one and I will say... the 100$ deal all these places got going on is good, but I did the K-mart thing, it's like 34$ and it's got 2 speeds. Can't complain, no problem clean up.
Do the green veggies if you don't need the sugars, and use the sugars to balance out the mix. There are so many things you can do with it... it's the way to go.
Juicing is so good, it beats water to fill you up, and it beats buying any bottled juice..

I have jack's juicer and I love it. It's so worth it if you are like me and are worried about what is in your food. Have you looked at the ingredients that are in juice. They all have something extra added in (usually to help with shelf life). I like it because I know exactly what I am drinking and I know it's good for me. My juicer doesn't leave much behind so I am not really worried about missing any of the good stuff.
