Dissolving stent passes in German trials

A dissolving stent that ends up completely going away has apparently passed a major trial in Germany, according to reports. Stents, which prop open arteries for proper blood flow due to plaque buildup, generally are not good things to have inside your body over the long-term, but so far, those are the kinds of stents used in most cases.

Newer stents made of magnesium actually degrade and dissolve over time, with the opening of the artery a permanent goal before the stent is completely dissolved.

Of course, one of the best ways to not ever need a stent is to exercise and eat properly, although that alone won't completely eliminate coronary problems in the future. What those two things will do is reduce the possible need to a bare minimum, most likely.
