Dreaming of food? Here's what it means
Categories: Motivation, Nutrition & Supplements
Ever have a food dream? I do all the time, and I always wake up absolutely starving, which means I just have to sneak in the kitchen and get some sort of snack to help me go back to sleep. I dream of beef, which is a bit odd because I'm not particularly crazy about beef when awake. I also dream of cake, lobster dripping in garlic butter, cheese, and pretty much anything else that is either too expensive or too rich to eat on a regular basis. Funny, I never dream of salad.
eDiets dissects your food dreams in this article, and tells you what your mind is trying to tell you. For me, I think my dreams are my body's way of telling me that it's craving these things. Luckily, it's pretty hard to find cake in my fridge in the middle of the night (or any other time too) so I satisfy my midnight stomach rumbling with some dry cereal or a hot cup of milk.

Great topic, Martha.
(Though the ediets article is just, well, dumb. Not your fault).
My food dreams usually tend to be frustrating--can't find my way to the buffet table, the cake I'm about to eat turns into a big disgusting rat, that sort of thing.
Every now and then though, I have a lucid dream where I can summon up sweets at will. I realize there are no calories, 'cause I'm dreaming. I totally scarf. Wish I had more of those.
What does it all mean? Hell if I know.

I am really thin, I wake up. Having slept walked to the frig, I wake up full, not even knowing I ate. I don't like this. Gina

Gina,
Sleep-eating is a real disease and it can be potentially harmful. I am sleep lab technician and have study about it some. Next time you go to your family doctor, ask them to schedule you for a sleep study or polysomnography.
