Why don't we eat healthier? 6 reasons
Posted on May 23rd 2007 3:00PM by Bethany SandersA whopping 56% of Americans report that they're trying to lose weight. Despite the fact that over half of the population wants to lead a healthier lifestyle, not all are succeeding. Wanting to do something and having the know-how to get it done are two different things, and according to a recent telephone survey done by the International Food Information Council, there are six specific pieces of information that people who are trying to eat right and lose weight are missing:
- 1. Calories: We know we need to count them, but we don't know how many we should be eating.
- 2. Exercise: Balancing calories in vs. calories out is a concept that 44% of people aren't using.
- 3. Breakfast: Less than half of us are eating the most important meal of the day.
- 4. Fats: We know to stay away from trans fats, but seemed confused about other types.
- 5. Carbs: Post-Atkins, we're slowly letting them back in, but still think we're eating too many.
- 6. Functional foods: What is the function of functional foods? We know, but we aren't eating them.
