Exhausted? You're not alone
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss
I have a 40+ hour work week at my day job, I write here in my off-time, and I'm a single mom. Can I just say it? I'm tired! With so much to do and so much on my mind, I often find it hard to sleep and I know that's not unusual.
Exhaustion is becoming an epidemic as more and more people work long hours and let sleep slide in order to squeeze more hours into their day. A survey conducted in the UK found that 42% of people cite lack of sleep as their biggest health concern. Another report showed that nearly half of us feel fatigued at work and suffer with insomnia.
If you're like me and building an ever-increasing sleep debt, here are some tips from the National Sleep Foundation:

If you're like me and building an ever-increasing sleep debt, here are some tips from the National Sleep Foundation:
- Maintain a regular schedule
- Establish a relaxing bedtime routine
- Create a comfortable, sleep-conducive environment
- Sleep on a comfortable mattress and pillow
- Keep televisions, work, computers, and other distractions out of your bedroom
- Don't eat 2-3 hours before going to bed
- Exercise regularly
- Avoid caffeine
- Don't drink alcohol close to bedtime.

Well I kinda know how you feel! You see my school day starts at 7:45. I have to get up and then take a shower and get dress get all ready for school and then go to school. At school I’m there 7:45 till 3:30. From there I go to work at a diner and work there 3:30 till around 10:30 ish! Then I go home do homework and sleep and repeat my day 5 days a week. With all that hard work I’m a very tired young man and I’m not getting the sleep I should be getting!

I have severe sleep apnea and also narcolepsy. My daughter, who is a grown woman, is really cruel about these conditions; as far as she is concerned--I guess--I'm just neurotic. For example, she tells people I go from doctor to doctor trying to find a cure for narcolepsy, which is patently absurd. Does anyone have any thoughts about how to deal with people who are contemptuous and just plain don't believe you concerning sleep problems?
