NBA star endorses $15 basketball shoe
Posted on May 15th 2007 3:00PM by Bethany SandersI live with an avid NBA fan, and all season long I've been hearing about "the shoes." Stephon Marbury, a New York Knicks point guard, released a line of sports apparel last year. It included a basketball shoe, the Starbury One, that Marbury claims is as good as any high-end basketball shoe out there. The catch? It retails for $14.98. Not only did Marbury put his name behind the product, he's also been wearing the shoes on the court all season to prove they'll stand up even to the rigors of life in the NBA.
Available only through Steve & Barry's -- a retailer who has made a name for itself selling really, really cheap stuff -- the shoes are flying off the shelves. I can almost hear parents across the country sighing in relief when their kids beg for a pair of Starbury's, instead of the Jordan or Bryant endorsed pairs that can go for $150-200.
Look for newer versions coming out, including a women's line and workout shoes.
