If you have the will, does Alli have the way?

I would have thought the days of "weight loss in a pill" products were numbered (the credible ones anyway), but they just keep coming! The latest is from GlaxoSmithKline and it's called Alli. It's a version of Xenical, and it's the first drug to be approved by the FDA for sale without a prescription and over-the-counter in the U.S. It works by preventing some absorption of fat into the body. The advertising of this product will be interesting, with more than $150 million dollars budgeted for marketing alone they plan on taking a slightly different approach than many diet pills have in the past: it's gonna take work on your part too. Interesting.

That is a lot on advertising. I know for me their slogan fits my lifestyle pretty closely. I finally realized there isn't a miracle and it will take my work, too. It is very positive, in my opinion, to enforce taking responsibility for your weight and health and your total well being in general.

It seems like Alli is using the lets get real approach. Meaning if you work hard, watch what you eat, and be responsible for yourself, we can help you. If you are not willing to make a commitment don't waste your time and don't blame us for failing.
I like it - its refreshing to put the responsibility in the consumer for once.

I am curious to how good this product will work and I am more willing to use it knowing that it's FDA approved. Bring it on!

Hi! I just read your post about alli. I have been part of a research community for alli for a couple weeks. I'm not taking alli, but we are talking about other stuff.. how to do support and stuff. They are quite impressive. I get the impression that there will be a great deal of support for people.. not just "sort of" support. Real, personal, group and one on one support. I do not work for them- btw.. just got asked to be in this little survey group.. and was told if I ever commented I should disclose that I am affiliated that way. But, I have to say, I have been impressed with the care they are taking. I get the impression they know this is an important release for them and they truly want to do this RIGHT.

This participative approach may indeed be helpful to many who prefer to see results more quickly. Perhaps with use of Alli, one can drop 'just enough' more weight to provide incentive to continue working to reach their intended goal.

I like that this new Drug advertises the truth, that it isn't a magic pill. The advertising thus far reflects that if we change our lifestyle in addition with help from Alli, then it will be a success! It is all about taking control of our bodies, our life and no longer blaming others for it. I look forward to the 15th!!

It is about time that the responsibility and commitment are part of a weight loss aid. So many times people think all they have to do is pop a pill and all the weight will be lost. Thank you for making Alli and having all the support for those of us who know that there is no magical way to lose weight. Commitment and having the tools like Alli will help tremendously. I look forward to learning all I can so I can spread the word about Alli. Thanks for letting me join this community.
