Top 5 cancer-causing foods
Are you wary of some foods that contain possible carcinogens or other cancerous components? There are many in the field of holistic nutrition who banish almost all processed foods from their diets based on data (and beliefs) that many compounds inside many foods actually promote cancer.Want to see one take on the top five cancer-causing foods most commonly consumed? Try this list on for size and see how many of these items you regularly eat.
Things like sodium nitrite and hydrogenated oils may make foods look and taste better -- but they are certainly not good for health in any way.

What about all the crap coming from China and other third world countries? Why so many children with cancer? Who checks and monitors our food supply? When I was in Brazil they fertilize with human feces! Got sick as a dog!
And Mexico? They didn't call Montezuma's revenge for nothing! Right now 200 million chickens fed with feed from China which is contaminated. I check country of origin when I shop, but I can't look into their feed!

Oh my...that's why hospital serve unhealthy foods to their patients, instead of healthy ones....it's a very lucrative, evil business...keep the people as unhealthy as possible to make as much money as possible, even if it kills them...not any more processed meats, wheat gluten, white flour, or processed potatoes for my family...ever!!!!

Steve...there's actually hope...it's called "uncured bacon" and it's very good. You can't tell any difference in flavor. The difference is that it doesn't contain any nitrates or nitrites. Several companies make it, so check it out at your next grocery store visit.

IM ONE FRUSTRATED GRANDMA ,, i was reading your article,, think highly of eating smart,,, 2 of my grandchildren recently came to stay with me for a bit along with their mom, my daughter,, both kids are ADD and one has ADHD with violence. My first thought, DIET!!
My daughter never read labels, was pumping kids with trans fats,,, sugars,, well that stoped here, and this school says the child that is here , doesnt sound like same child from prior school,,, anyways,,, Thier mom walked in the room and i was sharing with her what i was learning here, and she fires back at me "WELL IF WE DIDNT EAT EVERYTHING THAT WAS DANGEROUS ,, WE'D STARVE" she got up and walked out , leaving me speechless,, (she didnt give me time to react) But now im PISSED!! What?? These kids are taking pills ,, WHY??? cause its earier for mom,, thats what i think now!!
Very Frustrated Grandma,,, Robin

To Robin -- I hear you! So many parents I've met won't listen because living healthy takes so much effort (plain laziness). It's only the welfare of your children, right? No biggie there I guess. Sigh...
The Internet is the greatest thing to happen for information -- I say use it to perform your due diligence before just loading yourself and your kids up on refined and processed junk and fast food. But, then again, it takes effort, right? We can't have that, no sir. You can make inexpensive and healthy choices, but it takes diligent effort -- something the majority of this country is not capable of from my experience. I hope the tide will change, however.
Keep the comments flowing folks!

Why doesn't the FDA ban the use of sodium nitrite and partially hydrogenated oil, etc. if they are bad? No, instead they sit back and allow companies to continue to use these deadly chemicals. They ban Stevia as a sweetener, but promote the use of Sucralose, another toxin. It's all about money folks.

actually, the pink color of meats is due to the carbon monoxide that is put into meats, not the sodium nitrate. The sodium nitrate helps preserve the meat, while the carbon monoxide gives it a pink color for longer. However, the carbon monoxide is in a small enough amount to not harm our bodies because we are constantly ingesting and breathing in some amounts of carbon monoxide.

I have worked with cancer patients for 15 years. I am convinced that life causes cancer. The foods we eat, the water we drink, the air we breathe, the genes we inherit, and anything else you can think of. It seems to me the only answer is to live every day to the fullest - laugh, love, sing, dance, for tomorrow we may have cancer. It matters not whether you are 2 or 102, you may become a cancer victim. It is certainly true that some foods are healthier than others, and it is only sensible to choose those foods. However, choosing those foods is no guarantee that you will live a long and healthy life.

We are living longer than in the past - so thank you drug manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, medical doctors and researchers. Thank you drugs and thank you chemicals. Oh and thank you food scientists.
I appreciate you despite the 'internet beatings' that you all take. I appreciate you for deciding to spend 6 years or more in med school and piling on the student loans to take on a thankless jobs, while other people decided ... not to, but yet still preach with a little 'internet knowledge' and belittle you. I appreciate those who DO more than those who just TALK.
I appreciate you suffering and starving through grad school (and yes I can attest to that). I appreciate your brains and minds for actually coming up with a process of research and testing findings, while other people just say "well this worked for me so it must work for everybody."
I appreciate you food scientists and agriculturalists for improving the quality (YES QUALITY) of our food supply, for food engineering processes, for food packaging, for antimicrobials.
I am not saying the system is perfect - far from it, but I appreciate your EFFORTS and TRYING rather than just spouting off rhetoric.
