MyGenes: The next MySpace?

Posted on Apr 24th 2007 4:59PM by Rigel Celeste
Genes, genetics, and DNA are becoming so common anymore that pretty soon we'll all be posting our personal DNA codes on our MySpace accounts.

Sadly, that's not really a joke.

MyGenes.com is intended for just that purpose -- to allow people to post their genetic information in a forum to help themselves and others find solutions and cures to whatever happens to ail them, and all of us. As of now it's a subscriber-based system, and the posted info isn't made completely public. But how long before that changes? Given it would be a voluntary thing, but like this article points out, all you'd need is a few relatives who decide to do it and your info's pretty much out there for the world to see.

Is nothing sacred?
