Drug-coated stents or bypass surgery?

If you had heart problems or arterial issues, would you rather have bypass surgery or have those arteries propped open by stents coated with drugs? That is the question, and it's one many people are looking at when all those trails into and out of the heart start having plaque buildup and other issues.

A new study shows that the three-year survival rates are similar for heart patients treated with drug-coated stents and those treated with bypass surgery -- so which is the better option? Drug-coated stents are newer and don't have the track record of bypass surgery, and some trends indicate that the more-common fallback to stent insertion may be reversing even.
