How many calories... in a Chipotle Burrito?
Categories: How Many Calories?
Did you get your free burrito? In case you missed it, Chipotle gave away free burritos for tax day this year. It's tough to pass up a free lunch, I know. So maybe you went for that free tax day burrito and now you're wondering exactly how far you've thrown off your diet. Chipotle is all about letting you customize, so let's say you were fairly reasonable and chose a chicken burrito instead of steak, but added cheese, guacamole, and veggies. How many calories did that free lunch really cost you?
A) 550 calories
B) 700 calories
C) 850 calories
D) 1150 calories
The answer is D) 1150 calories. And no, there was no hidden trick to making this burrito so high in calories. Choose any of the possible combinations of one meat, veggies, and a couple toppings like sour cream, cheese, or guacamole and you're looking at a burrito in 1000-1300 calorie range with total fat content in the 50 -55 gram neighborhood! That's definitely a no-brainer, but a good reminder. When I watch them make my order, my brain starts tracking everything that goes into it. However I do ask for a to-go bag first thing because I cut it in half and save the rest for a later meal/snack.
I've seen people eat a Chipotle burrito in a single sitting and I'm amazed.
