What's the secret to a long and healthy life? That question could be answered a thousand different ways, but a recent survey of Americans age 99 and older created a snapshot of what living to 100 looks like. Far from being old fashioned, modern centenarians are aware of the world around them and stay engaged in it at a surprising level. The telephone survey, sponsored by Evercare, which focuses on health needs of Americans over 50, found that the respondents:
- watched reality TV (31 percent)
- have played video games (1 in 7)
- have ordered from Starbucks (11 percent)
- get their news from television (68 percent)
- have watched music videos or MTV (27 percent)
