Will this allergy season be a bad one?
Categories: Healthy Home, Diet & Weight Loss
With seasonal allergies in full swing in many states around the U.S. and many countries around the world right now, is the best or worst to come? It's not even April yet and in my part of the U.S., it's like May already -- flowers blooming, trees growing, yards being mowed -- and allergies going crazy. Experts say it's hard to predict what this weird weather means for allergy sufferers, but I have an answer -- they are here early and are just as bad as I've ever seen them.
Here's hoping that the pollen shedding stops soon so myself and those I know can get a break from all the "natural goodness" i the air right now. It's not pleasant.

Yes, this is already a bad allergy season. I live in Louisville, KY (ground zero!) and am already miserable. As a kid I never had allergies but as an adult (27) I've developed several severe allergies to grasses, mold, cats, trees, etc...
Last year it reached a point where I was only getting about 2 hours of sleep each night and was unable to focus at all during the day. I ended up going to an immediate care center where they were sure (before chest xray) that I had pneumonia. Once the xray came back they were very surprised that it was just really strong allergies.
I then visited an allergy specialist who determined all of my allergies and which ones were the most severe (there are quite a few). They prescribed Singulair, Advair and an inhaler. Their only piece of advice on "making things better" was to either take weekly shots for about 3 years or to move away from Louisville.
We didn't move (yet atleast). Even with the 3 prescriptions from above I'm already sneezing, getting sinus headaches that rival migraines, having to re-wet my contacts throughout the day, etc... This year already definitely feels MUCH worse than last year :(
