10 tips for preparing for a marathon

When starting and maintaining a fitness program, setting short term goals is a great way to keep motivated. But what about setting a long term goal 6 or 12 months down the road? Scheduling a vigorous hiking vacation, a cycling tour, or any other event that pushes you outside of your fitness comfort zone is a great way to keep yourself committed to your workout routine.
With summer on it's way, a road race is another great goal to set for yourself. Charity organizations plan fun-runs all season, and you can have your pick of a 2K, 5K, 10K, or even a marathon. Don't let that word scare you, if you're in good health, you can run a marathon, you just have to properly train for it.
