Different leg exercises for different purposes

Are you an avid user of a recumbent bike, stairstepper or other exercise method that works your legs and calf muscles or quadriceps into a muscular frenzy?

This question over at eDiets got me thinking -- what if the goal is to have a nice, toned leg instead of a muscular, well-defined leg? Those calf muscles can get quite large when exercised rigorously. That, though, is not the goal of some folks.

The answer to leg tonality seems completely appropriate: get proper nutrition, perform weight training and cardio training and realize that being "toned" means having lower body-fat levels and increased lean muscle tissue.
