Are most new drugs being inspired by nature?

It's kind of hard to understand that most newer prescription drugs were actually inspired by natural processes, but now that I think about it, it makes sense. Trying to emulate the human body's reaction to problems should be the inspiration for the way most drugs are designed. If the medical community has the audacity to think it understands that way human biology works, then that industry probably needs a wakeup call in a big way.
According to new statistics that have just been published, the conclusions showed that 30% of new drugs were totally synthetic in origin while 70% were derived from or similar to chemicals found in nature. So, nature itself has been the inspiration for most of the drugs from the last 25 years. Surprised? I was.
