Do you know your fats? Take the quiz

Posted on Mar 12th 2007 1:04PM by Brian White
There are so man kinds of fats in the world that it makes one wonder how to sort out this odd "world of fats." There are trans fats, unsaturated fats, monounsaturated fats, saturated fats and so on. How do you make sense of it all? And, more importantly, how much of each fat should you be consuming on a daily basis?

Also, there are good fats and bad fats -- but do you know which is which? It's a little bewildering out there, so the USDA's fat recommendations may give you a starting point to consider insofar as where to start (and stop). For example, did you know that fats from sources like nuts, seeds, olive and canola oil, avocado and fatty fish like salmon, sardine and mackerel are very healthy for you? On the flip side, those foods which contain "fried" in their titles along with fatty meat and hydrogenated fats in packaged foods are not good for you.

Take the good fat/bad fat quiz over at eDiets and see how you fare. After all, knowledge is power -- and nowhere is this demonstrated more succinctly than in nutrition.
