Diabetes growing in Asian countries

The growth of the Asian middle class is bringing an increase in bad habits (most of which have a tight hold on the U.S. middle class). That is, meals comprised of cheeseburgers and lasagna instead of fish and noodles.

What is this causing? Several reports state that diabetes is increasing in several Asian countries due to the prevalence of bad foods that are starting to infiltrate diets of the middle class -- which is seeing rising economic fortunes and worsening nutritional habits right along with it.

Alongside a less active lifestyle and devoid of more nutritious (and traditional) foods, diabetes is starting to show itself in more numbers than ever. The bad part is that ore Asians may be at risk for diabetes since the Asian metabolism is used to a frugal diet and a physical lifestyle -- not a diet full of saturated fat and a sedentary lifestyle.
