How one plate can pack 2,000 calories

We've talked about the huge amounts of calories in some restaurant foods recently, which makes it even more important for any restaurant who wants to be honest to list nutritional information on each menu choice. Of course, most restaurants will never do this unless the law requires it, since those customers paying attention may actually see how bad some dishes are to eat.

But when you see stories like a certain burger from Ruby Tuesdays containing 2,000 calories, it makes most want to go "holy cow". It's true that this is an extreme example, but eating a product like that should be the only thing you eat that day -- and over the course of the day -- not in one sitting.

This quote says it all -- "I would never dream of telling someone what to order in a restaurant, but people can't make informed choices without basic nutrition information," said Margo Wootan, director of nutrition policy for The Center for Science in the Public Interest watchdog group.
