UK women experiment with binging -- results not surprising
Categories: Healthy Habits, Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements
Though this experiment is hardly surprising, it is interesting to read. Two UK women -- with generally healthy lifestyles -- drastically changed their habits for two weeks and reported their results.
The first, an occasional drinker, began drinking at least a bottle of wine every night. She quickly developed flaky skin, headaches, mood swings, and dull hair. The second, who normally ate a healthy diet, began binge eating and added about 2000 empty calories to her normal diet. She complained of stomach cramps, bloating, greasy hair, and dull skin.
This is basically the "Supersize Me" effect, watching a healthy person's health deteriorate when they take on bad habits to the extreme. A more interesting experiment, in my opinion, would be to take a heavy drinker and a binge eater and put them both on a healthy diet for two weeks and then compare results. It's no secret that too much of anything, whether food or drink, isn't good for us, but hearing how quickly our bodies respond to good health habits would be a powerful motivator. What do you think?

Forensic experts can even take hair samples found at crime scenes and determine that the suspect dines on fast food--due to its unhealthy state, thereby letting them know the assailant is probably single, run-down, and possibly overweight. This is just from a single hair. It's amazing how eating healthy foods affects the entire being of a person, physically, and emotionally. It takes a few weeks to change eating habits, and even develop a taste for some things, but it's worth it.

Isn't it spelled "bingeing?"

Um.. "affect" is a verb. "Effect" is a noun and is what you should have used in the third paragraph.

Thanks for the proofreading everyone. I looked up binging and according to Webster's, it can be spelled either way!

did the writer fix it or did you misread what was written?

What is it with you morons and your grammar corrections? It's an bleeping blog, does it matter? Does it make you feel smarter to correct others? Aw, how sweet.
Conversations and unpublished writings do not need to be grammatically correct. Look it up in any Linguistics textbook. In fact, that is how language evolves.
But, I guess if it makes you stupid morons feel smarter, go for it.
Anyway, of course what you put into your body has an effect that very quick to show. I know after starting to eat healthier and exercising daily, I start to feel much better after 5 or 6 days. It is amazing. And you can read my skin like a book. It always shows what I've been putting into my body.

#3 Steph's comment isn't necessary! My computer has the word spelled with an "E" not an "A". This person must need glasses or a larger screen to be able to make out the difference between an E or an A.

I am printing this out and posting it on my refrigerator for my teenagers to see. It will be a good reminder that what one puts into their body comes out everywhere!

LOL at those comments unrelated to the UK experiment. As for the mispellings and improper grammar, omigod, we spent the majority of our first 12 school years learning correct English and grammar which was literally drilled into our heads. Anything less sounds strange and foreign.
As for the experiment, though unhealthy, what they did did prove their point.

Does anyone know the answer to this question: What if
someone has damaged hair from continuously dyeing
and/or permming their hair? Can forensics still find proof of
what was ingested? This is JUST a question.

Gina (#10),
Omigod, what school did you go to that they "literally drilled" English and grammer into your head??
Was it "literally" a big drill, or was it some other kind of barbaric tool?
Please, do tell?
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!!
