Spearmint tea may reduce excessive hair growth in women
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss, Reviews & Products, Alternative & Green Health
Could spearmint tea be the answer to excess hair growth in women? Turkish researchers have reason to believe that could be the case, after a recent study done there. Hirsutism -- or abnormal hair growth in women -- occurs when women have too much of the male hormone testosterone circulating in their blood. The condition sometimes has an underlying medical disorder, such as poly-cystic ovarian syndrome, but sometimes it happens for no apparent reason for all. A small study involving 21 women -- 12 of whom had hirsutism -- found that when women drank two cups of spearmint tea a day, the level of free testosterone in their blood was reduced and an increase in several different female hormones was also detected.
Hirsutism is normally treated with birth control pills or other drugs that regulate male and female hormones. Women suffering from the condition still need to see their doctor and have a complete work up to try and discover the cause of their excessive hair growth, but this study may be what health experts need to find a more natural cure for this common condition.

the findings that indicate tea drinkers suffer from reduced testosterone levels confirms my long held suspicions that only two types of people drink hot tea: women and homosexuals

I doubt gum would work as well unless it had some type of pure extract. There are many herbal (non-caffeinated) spearment teas however...

Lori, honey....it's time to put the double latte down and step away from the puter. I'd offer some chocolate, but given your current over-caffeinated state, I'll just put a glass of wine in your hand instead. Chill honey, life is too short. ;-))

Bordizzle, you are an arrogant fool.
These are typical comments from a homophobic redneck who is terrified of their own inner tendencies.
I'll bet anything that you are hiding your own gay tendencies in the closet...why else would you make such a comment?

When anyone outside the US talks about tea, it is always served hot. Iced tea is served with ice. Tea is served hot.

Is this Spearmint alone or will pepermint or others of the mint family work as well?

Yep, this definitely is aol!!!! LOL
Sounds good to me, now If I could get spearmint to actually grow for me, I'll be set. I can't stand the peppermint they put in the mint tea.

The comment by bordizzle is just that; a response and opinion. Unfortunately gays and their supporters take offense at absolutely everything. Those of us who do not support their choice have a right to our opinion as well. Even when it comes to tea.

lori you seem like a really mean person! its probably because your own life sucks that you have to treat other people bad to make yourself feel better. step up and apologize when you know you have been rude to someone and maybe you will feel better.

Might sound bizarre, but I find hairy girls hot (!!) and erotic, even. BTW, some jerk earlier had the audacity to say that only gays and women drank hot tea!! Whoever said that is downright loopy
