Watercress helps fight cancer

Posted on Feb 19th 2007 1:39PM by Rigel Celeste

According to the most recent issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, eating watercress on a daily basis can help your body fight the development of cancer. The study, done by researchers at the University of Ulster, included 60 participants -- half of them ate a bowlful of fresh watercress daily and half of them did not. Among other things, those people on the watercress diet showed significant reduction in DNA damage to blood cells due to free-radicals, and this type of damage on the cellular level is considered an important trigger in the development of cancer.
