Grant to support PE, health and nutrition program in California

It's great to hear the news that a foundation or organization that really encourages better lifestyle choices receives the funding it needs to really make a positive change.

An organization called Break the Barriers, Inc. (BTB) has announced that it will receive $500,000 per year for the next three years from The Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) -- part of the U.S. Department of Education. The news here, though, is that the BTB will be using those funds to improve and expand the physical education and related after-school programs California.

The PEP provides grants to initiate, expand, and improve physical education programs for K--12 students -- not only to help them pass muster from PE standards, but to set kids up for a lifetime of healthy exercising habits hopefully.
